Robert A. Eskew, PT, MS, PCS | Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy

ABOUT US

Physical therapist Bob Eskew has been learning his craft since he was two. It was then that a little boy with cerebral palsy began physical therapy at Children’s Hospital at OU.

Eighteen years later, when he applied to P.T. school, some of the faculty remembered him and his tenacity. Since then, Bob has worked in almost every aspect of physical therapy and earned national recognition in his field.

Bob’s C.V. is six pages long and he has earned many initials behind his name. Here are some of the highlights: Bob is board certified in pediatric physical therapy and earned a masters degree in pediatric physical therapy in 1999. In addition to clinical practice, he has taught at OU, OSU, and Langston Universities.

He was appointed by Governor Keating to the State Rehabilitation Council.

In 2003 he authored a chapter in the textbook : Neurological Rehabilitation. He also wrote an original screenplay in 1989 titled “CRIPS”.

One of the things Bob is most proud of is his work during the immediate aftermath of the Murrah Bombing. While at Presbyterian Hospital, he helped set up a temporary clinic where relief workers could get physical therapy at the Medallion Hotel. “I made calls to colleagues all over the countystate and the clinic was fully equipped and up and running in three days. We worked on everyone out there from firemen to secret service agents.

Since then, he has studied and written about the Physical Therapist’s role in disaster management.

For the past two years, Bob has been involved in national research about aging with a disability. The journal Physical Therapy will publish a paper on which Bob worked this month.

Bob’s wife, Michelle, is a speech and language pathologist and hopes to join the practice in the future. The couple met in 1992 when they were both working at Sooner Start, an Oklahoma pediatric rehabilitation program. They married in 1993 and moved to Edgemere Heights in 1994. Michelle and Bob have two children, Erin Michelle (13) and William Henry (11). Their favorite thing about our neighborhood is the people. “It’s what a neighborhood should be: sharing and looking out for each other.”
